Course Description: “Heresy” is a word that gets used a lot in some circles. My hope is to provide some guidance about when not to use it (part of our Lenten discipline!) and when we very much should use it... and when we do, that we mean what we say. In the 5 Sundays of Lent, I will go through the “Top 5” heresies, guiding us to a fuller and better appreciation of the huge events that await us after Lent.
Optional Course Reading: B. Quash and M. Ward eds., S. Hauerwas foreword, Heresies and How to Avoid Them: Why It Matters What Christians Believe (London: SPCK ; Peabody, Mass.: Hendrickson, 2007).
